Distance and walk time

Distances show as minutes on foot, from where you are or from your active Radar. Miles or kilometers is a setting. The Home feed can sort by distance; the Events screen never does.

What the number means

"12 min walk" is a straight walk at an ordinary pace, about three miles an hour, from your phone's location when the app has it, or from your active Radar's saved spot when it does not. Biking and driving are only used when you size a Radar by time.

Units

Settings → Preferences → Distance units: miles or kilometers. Walk minutes stay minutes either way.

Sorting and filtering by distance

  • The Home feed can sort Nearest first, and filter to Under 5, 10, 20 or 40 minutes' walk.
  • The map shows distance on each card.
  • The Events screen shows distance on cards when your location is known but never sorts by it; neighborhoods do the sorting there, because an event is a plan, not a hunger.

Radar range

Your Radar is sized by time (Walk, Bike or Drive, 5 to 20 minutes) or by distance (¼ to 2 miles). See Set up your Radar.
