Getting started

Set up your Radar

A Radar is a saved location plus the range around it that HeyTruk watches. Set the range by time or by distance, and choose which cuisines and trucks each Radar listens for.

A Radar is a saved location (Home, Work, or any place you name) with a range around it. When a truck, cart or pop-up you follow opens inside that range, you get a Hey. You can save more than one, and the app switches to the one you are near when you open it.

Open your Radar

  • On the Home tab, tap the location pill at the top left. It shows the name of the active Radar, or Near Me when none is active.
  • Or open the Me tab and tap Radar.

Add a location

  1. Tap the search bar at the top and type an address, a building or a place. Pick a result.
  2. Check the pin on the map. Tap Drop Pin… to move it by hand.
  3. Choose a name: Home, Work or Other. For Other, type your own, like Gym or Park. Two locations can't share a name.
  4. Tap Save location.

Set the range

Under Set your radar by, pick one of two ways:

  • Time: choose Walk, Bike or Drive, then 5, 10, 15 or 20 min. The map shows the area that works out to.
  • Distance: choose ¼ mi, ½ mi, 1 mi or 2 mi.

Switch between the two at any time; the last one you set is what the Radar uses.

Choose what this Radar listens for

Each Radar has its own filters, so Work can listen for lunch and Home for dessert.

  • Cravings: pick cuisines. A truck of a cuisine you picked alerts you when it opens in range.
  • Trucks you always want to hear from: add specific trucks. They alert you whenever they pull up in range, whatever their cuisine.
  • This radar listens: the hours this Radar sends alerts. Outside those hours it stays quiet.

Edit or remove a location

Tap the pencil next to a saved location to open its settings: move the pin, change the range, filters and hours, or tap Remove. You need at least one saved location, so the app won't remove your last one.

Which Radar is active

The active Radar is the one the Home feed and alerts use. Open the app near a saved location and it becomes active on its own. With no saved location nearby, the app centers on where you are right now.

Your location and privacy

A Radar does not share your exact location, your address or your name with merchants. What merchants see is demand by area: how many Radars cover a spot they are considering, as a count on a map. Nobody can tell which Radars those are or who set them.

Your phone's location is used for two things: to pick the active Radar when you open the app near a saved location, and to show "Near Me" results when none is nearby. HeyTruk keeps the location you save, not a trail of where you go. Privacy and location has the full list of what is stored and for how long.

If no alerts arrive

Check that the range covers where the trucks actually park, that the Radar's cravings or trucks include what you expect, that its hours cover now, and that alerts are not paused. Why did I not get an alert? walks through the full list.

Checked against the app on October 5, 2026.
