Getting started
What HeyTruk does
HeyTruk alerts you the moment a truck, cart or pop-up you follow opens near you, scores trucks by head-to-head ranking instead of stars, and adds Drops, events, rewards and games.
HeyTruk alerts you the moment a truck, cart or pop-up you follow opens near you. You save the places you spend time (home, work, the gym), set a range around each by time or distance, and choose the cuisines and trucks each one listens for. When one of those merchants pulls up inside that range, your phone gets a Hey: the alert, with the name and how far away it is.
Scores you can trust
HeyTruk does not use star ratings. You rank a truck against trucks you have already eaten at, a few taps of "which was better?", and the app places it on your own list with a score from 0 to 10. Every truck's public score comes from those head-to-head picks across everyone who ranked it.
- A 10 is rare, so the scores spread out instead of piling up at four and five stars.
- A score is a comparison, so it is far harder to fake than an average of star reviews.
- Your list is yours: the app shows where each truck sits for you (your #3, 8.4) next to its public score.
- Each score carries a band at a glance: Liked (6.5 and up), Fine (3.5 to 6.4), Not for me.
Ranking a truck for the first time earns points, and your rankings feed the ordering of what the app shows you.
Bite Notes
Log what you ate: the dish, a photo, your favorite bites, labels like "Big portions" or "Cash only", and a note. Bite Notes show on the truck's page for the next person deciding what to order, and under Bite Notes on your Me tab. A Private notes field on each one is for you alone. A Bite Note with a photo earns points once per truck per day.
What else is in the app
- Drops. Limited items a merchant announces for a set day: a special, a new item's launch, a limited pre-order. Tap Notify me to hear when one is out.
- Markets and events. Weekly markets, touring festivals and one-off fairs, with the lineup and hours for each.
- Book a truck. One request for a party, office lunch or wedding.
- HT Rewards. Points for verified visits, rankings and Bite Notes; three levels (Snacker, Foodie, Legend); badges and crowns; a daily streak and a weekly draw with merchant prizes.
- Truk Shop. Spend points on food rewards, merch, game skins and gift cards.
- FoodRUN and Lunch Rush. Two games. One scored run a day in FoodRUN earns rewards.
- Friends. See what friends are eating and share trucks and events.
What HeyTruk is not
HeyTruk does not sell the food. Every truck, cart and pop-up on the map is its own business: it sets its hours, menu, prices and offers. HeyTruk shows you where they are and tells you when they open.
Where to start
- Download the app and sign in with your phone number.
- Set up your Radar: the places you spend time, the range around each, and what each one listens for.
- Follow a few trucks or a cuisine. The first Hey arrives the next time one of them opens in range.
