Getting started
Download and sign in
Sign in with your phone number and a texted code, or with Apple. Then set up your name, username and birthday.
HeyTruk has no password. You sign in with your phone number and a one-time code, or with your Apple account.
Sign in with your phone
- Open the app and tap Text me a code.
- Enter your number. We text a code to confirm the number is yours; message and data rates may apply.
- Enter the code on the next screen. Tap Resend code if it has not arrived within a minute, or Change number if you typed the wrong one.
Wrong code means the digits did not match; check the latest text and try again. You can request five codes per number in 15 minutes. After that the app says to wait a few minutes before trying again.
Sign in with Apple
Tap Sign in with Apple and confirm with Face ID or your passcode. If Apple sign-in fails, tap Use phone number instead.
Set up your profile
After the first sign-in the app asks Who's eating?
- First and last name go on your notes.
- Username is how friends find you. Tap Create a username.
- Birthday (MM/DD/YYYY). You have to be 16 or older. Your birthday brings a reward each year; the year is never shown to anyone.
- Email is optional, for receipts and reminders. If you signed in with Apple, the app asks for your phone so friends can find you.
Tap Get started.
Turn on location
The app then asks to turn on location so it can show trucks near you. Tap Turn On Location and allow it in the prompt. If you tap Not now, you can still search a neighborhood by name; Allow location and notifications explains what each permission does.
If the code never arrives
Check that the number is right and can receive texts, wait a minute, then tap Resend code. Sign-in code never arrives covers carrier blocks and the 15-minute limit.
