HeyTruk

Alerts (your Heys)

What a Hey is

A Hey is the alert your phone gets when a truck you follow opens inside your Radar. It carries the truck's name and how far away it is, and plays the HeyTruk jingle.

A Hey is an alert. When a truck, cart or pop-up you follow pulls up and opens inside your active Radar, your phone gets one: the merchant's name, how far away they are, and the jingle.

Tap the alert and the app opens on that merchant's page with their spot, hours and menu.

When a Hey is sent

  • The merchant has pulled up: they are live and serving, not just scheduled.
  • They are inside the range of your active Radar, or you are a Regular there, in which case any spot counts.
  • You follow them with alerts on, you are a Regular, or they are new to your Radar and you have asked to hear about new trucks there. Which trucks alert you has the rules.
  • It is inside your alert hours, and alerts are not paused.

How many you get

HeyTruk sends at most one Hey per truck per day, and at most five a day in total. A truck you follow that opens outside your Radar does not buzz your phone; it shows in the app quietly when it is reasonably close.

The sound

The jingle is HeyTruk's own. Ice cream trucks play the ice cream jingle. You can switch which one plays for everything else under Settings → Alert sound; see Alert sound.
