HeyTruk

Alerts (your Heys)

Which trucks alert you

Followed trucks alert you on the setting you pick for each one. Trucks where you are a Regular alert you wherever they set up. New trucks in your Radar can alert you too, or wait for the daily summary.

Three kinds of trucks can send you a Hey: trucks you follow, trucks where you are a Regular, and trucks that are new to your Radar.

Trucks you follow

Tap the bell on a merchant's page to follow them. The first time, the app asks how often you want to hear from them, and recommends a setting based on how that truck moves:

  • Every time they open: a Hey each time they pull up inside your Radar, wherever they park. Recommended for trucks that move around, a few alerts a week.
  • Only when something changes: a Hey when they open at a new spot, at different hours, or come back after a break. Recommended for trucks with a regular spot, a few alerts a month.
  • No alerts (just show them on my map): they stay on your map and lists, nothing buzzes.

The app learns each truck's pattern from where it has stopped in the last 30 days: Regular spot, Regular spot, plus other stops, Moves around, or New on HeyTruk (no pattern yet). Change the setting any time from the bell on the merchant's page or from Me → Alerts → Your trucks.

The first Hey after you follow a truck always sends, so you know the follow took.

Trucks where you are a Regular

Visit a truck on three different days in 30 days and you are a Regular there. From then on, every time it pulls up, anywhere, you get a Hey with no Radar check, with the spot and how long they are open. Pause and alert hours still apply, and it is one Hey per truck per day. See What Regulars get.

New trucks in your Radar

Under Me → Alerts → New trucks in your Radar, choose:

  • Alert me when a truck I haven't seen there opens: a Hey for a truck that has never alerted you before.
  • Summary only: no Hey; new trucks appear in your daily summary instead.

Trucks that are usually in your Radar go in the daily summary either way, so your phone is not buzzing about the same corner every lunch.

The daily summary

One message a day at a time you choose (Me → Alerts → Daily summary), listing what is open near your Radar: "Tonight near your Radar: A, B, and 3 more." It is skipped when nothing is open.

This weekend by email

Every Thursday, an email with the food markets and street fairs near your Radar plus the events you follow. Turn it on under Me → Alerts → This weekend, enter your address, and tap Confirm in the email we send.

Limits that apply to everything

  • One Hey per truck per day, five Heys a day in total.
  • A followed truck that opens outside your Radar does not buzz; it shows in the app quietly when it is reasonably close.
  • If you ignore three Heys in a row from a truck, the app quiets that truck and shows a banner. Tap Turn alerts back on to resume.
  • A merchant running a HeyTruk promotion that day can reach you once with that promotion, even if you have heard from them before.

Checked against the app on October 5, 2026.
