Location and map settings

Location permission is set in your phone's Settings; the app uses it to pick your Radar and show Near Me. Map data comes from Apple Maps and OpenStreetMap.

Location permission

HeyTruk does not keep its own location switch; it follows your phone. Phone Settings → HeyTruk → Location:

  • While Using the App: the map and feed show what is near you, and the app picks your active Radar when open.
  • Always: the app can also pick your Radar while closed, so alerts follow you between places, and it can ask about lines when you arrive at a truck.
  • Never: type a neighborhood to look around; saved Radars still work for alerts.

See Allow location and notifications and Background location.

Precise location

Keep Precise Location on. Without it, the app sees a wide area and cannot tell which Radar you are near.

Distance units

Settings → Preferences → Distance units: miles or kilometers, used on cards, rows and Radar.

Map data

Maps and place data © Apple Maps and OpenStreetMap contributors (Settings → Legal → Map data). Merchant locations come from the merchants themselves, their posted schedules and fans' tags; see A truck shows the wrong location or hours.

Checked against the app on October 5, 2026.
